Welcome to Vanipedia, a dynamic, living encyclopedia of Śrīla Prabhupāda's words (vani). We are building an unparalleled digital repository of his text, audio, video, and images, comprehensively compiling his teachings from every angle of vision. More than just an archive, Vanipedia serves as a continual, worldwide platform for Śrīla Prabhupāda to actively teach the science of Krishna consciousness to the world for the benefit of all.

Driven by an unprecedented vision, the Vanipedia project is a monumental and all-encompassing endeavor that unfolds as a magnificent seven-petaled lotus. Currently, four of these petals are actively blooming with the living presence of Śrīla Prabhupāda's eternal teachings:

  • Vanipedia Petal: The site where you are now. Here you find over 5,000+ articles brilliantly summarizing the categories compiled in Vaniquotes.
  • Vanisource Petal: The digital library. Here you can read the archived collection of Śrīla Prabhupāda's books, lectures, conversations and letters.
  • Vaniquotes Petal: The thematic map. Compiling and studying in Vaniquotes is a penetrating way to absorb oneself in Śrīla Prabhupāda's teachings. Each Vaniquotes page contains one or more quotes and is organized under a system of categories based either on a theme, personality, scripture or on a key word or key phrase. To date there are over 40,000+ categories, 280,000+ pages, and 2,100,000+ quotes. As this petal grows, it naturally generates the educational material for the rest of the project.
  • Vanimedia Petal: The audio-visual archive. Here, you may listen to and watch many audio and video clips of Śrīla Prabhupāda's lectures and conversations.

Steadily, Śrīla Prabhupāda's Vani Temple is becoming continuous festival of association. The global community of devotees appreciating and utilizing Vanipedia is increasing rapidly. By scrolling through What's in Vanipedia NOW you will surely find something that captures your heart and attention.

This global multilingual endeavor (translating in 100 languages) is succeeding entirely by the grace of the devotees - over 1,800 have already come forward to participate. The Vanipedia petal is now beginning to unfold.   • This list shows our progress to create Vaniquotes pages for all of the sentences in Srila Prabhupada's books. We are now working on Srimad-Bhagavatam 6 and 7 cantos. After completing up to 10th canto chapter 13 we will start the purports of the Caitanya-caritamrta.

Completing an Audio Fidelity Check of Lecture and Conversation Transcriptions

  • We are inviting volunteers to attentively listen to Śrīla Prabhupāda and, while reading, to check the transcriptions for accuracy. This project was launched on the 19th of April 2014. As of the 2nd May 2015, 34 volunteers have proofread 745 files and 3,845 missing words and 4,993 edits have been entered into Vanisource. An explanation is given here...

Adding Scans of Śrīla Prabhupāda's Letters

  • We are inviting volunteers to read, verify and correct the Vanisource letter transcriptions for fidelity against the original scans. Please contact us if you would like to help.

Who is Śrīla Prabhupāda?

Authorized and Empowered

A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda is a self-realized, pure devotee of Lord Kṛṣṇa. While physically present among us he shared the essence of Vedic knowledge liberally and without prejudice. His only desire was to fulfill his spiritual master's desire – to introduce the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness to the world.

Śrīla Prabhupāda showed us the importance of living life according to the directions given in scripture. He spoke and wrote profusely so that many may have this guidance in life, and he wished that every person on the planet had the opportunity to read his books now and in the future.

"So one must have seen the truth, realized the truth. Tad-vijñānārthaṁ sa gurum evābhigacchet (MU 1.2.12). That is guru, means one who has seen the truth. How he has seen the truth? Through the paramparā system. Kṛṣṇa said this, and then Brahmā said the same thing, then Nārada said the same thing, Vyāsadeva said the same thing, and then disciplic succession, Madhvācārya, Mādhavendra Purī, Īśvara Purī, Lord Caitanya, ṣaḍ-gosvāmī, Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī, Śrīnivāsa Ācārya, Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura, Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura—in this way—Jagannātha dāsa Bābājī, Gaura Kiśora dāsa Bābājī, Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī. Then we are speaking the same thing. Not that 'Because we are modernized, we're, modern science has changed'. Nothing has changed. It is all foolishness."
