Whole Society Becomes Peaceful Through Varṇāśrama and Kṛṣṇa Consciousness
A peaceful society requires more than laws, economics, or public sentiment; it needs spiritual direction and proper organization. In these teachings, Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that society becomes healthy when people act according to their qualities and duties while remaining centered on Kṛṣṇa. The Vedic system of varṇāśrama-dharma is meant to harmonize material responsibility with spiritual progress, so that every class of people contributes to the welfare of all. When this order is lost, the whole society becomes confused, polluted, and chaotic.
Brahminical Guidance Is the Brain of Society
Every society needs a real brain: people who are spiritually intelligent, pure, and capable of guiding others. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that brāhmaṇas are required for the welfare of the whole society because they distribute essential knowledge and set a standard of character. Without such guidance, leaders and citizens remain materially absorbed and unable to understand life's higher purpose. A society lacking its brain may still be active, but its activity becomes disordered and dangerous.
- Brahmanas are required for the guidance of the whole society.
- The Brahmins are supposed to serve the whole society by distributing this important information. Please help me in this way and Krishna will bless you.
- Neither the people know that there is reincarnation, or transmigration of the soul after death. They do not know. So basically they are brainless. So they cannot give guidance, and therefore the whole society is in chaotic condition.
- The so-called scientists, so-called philosophers, they have no intelligence. Therefore the whole society in the chaotic condition.
Varṇāśrama Organizes Duties for Peace
The Vedic social order does not mean artificial prestige by birth; it means practical cooperation according to quality and work. Brāhmaṇas, kṣatriyas, vaiśyas, and śūdras each have a role, just as different parts of the body cooperate for the whole body. When these divisions are maintained properly, society has direction, protection, production, and service. Centered on Kṛṣṇa, this system allows people to progress materially and spiritually without unnecessary conflict.
- Each one should serve according to his guna-karma, quality and capacity to work. Then the whole society will be perfect, there will be peace, no war, nothing, and gradually making progress back to home, back to Godhead. Otherwise it will be chaos.
- If people divide the whole society into four orders for spiritual progress and material progress, centering these orders on Krsna and following the instructions of Krsna as stated in the Bhagavad-gita, the entire human society will undoubtedly be happy.
- The whole society must be divided into four varnas. Otherwise, there will be chaotic condition. That is what is the position now. What is he, what he has to do, one does not know.
- There must be division. There must be division, and each division must be maintained very nicely. Then the whole society is all right.
Kṛṣṇa Conscious Society Becomes Vaikuṇṭha-Like
The purpose of social order is not simply efficiency; it is to help everyone remain in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. When the whole society performs its duties for the Lord, the necessities of life are supplied and people can live peacefully without artificial want. Śrīla Prabhupāda describes such a condition as Vaikuṇṭha-like because worldly life becomes purified by devotional purpose. Human welfare is therefore complete only when material sharing and spiritual elevation go together.
- If the whole society performs its respective duties and remains in Krsna consciousness, there is no doubt that all of its members will live very peacefully and happily. Without wanting the necessities of life, the whole world will be turned into Vaikuntha.
- As a result of such satisfaction the whole society gets all the necessities of life amply and without difficulty. This is because, after all, the Supreme Personality of Godhead maintains all other living entities.
- Besides this human welfare activity for communal sharing of the material necessities of life, there is an ancient Vedic programme for simultaneously raising the whole society to the highest perfection of spiritual consciousness.
- If the people of the world, taking into account their respective material qualities, divide the whole society into four orders for material progress, the entire human society will undoubtedly be happy.
Disorder Pollutes and Endangers Society
When people neglect duty and spiritual discipline, society becomes polluted. Śrīla Prabhupāda points to cheating, illicit sex, lack of faith, varṇa-saṅkara, and absence of protection for devotees and intelligent spiritual persons as signs of danger. These are not isolated moral concerns; they affect the whole social body. Without Kṛṣṇa consciousness and proper leadership, civilization becomes unstable, faithless, and increasingly hellish.
- A person born in brahmana family is not acting as a brahmana, he's varna-sankara. So when there are number of people varna-sankara class, then the whole society becomes hell.
- If this system is not introduced by the leaders, then human civilization will be lost. When there is no protection and special treatment for persons who are devotees of the Lord, who are highly intelligent in spiritual life, then the whole society is lost.
- Somebody's cheating and somebody's becoming cheated. The whole society's the combination of cheaters and cheated. That's all.
- If you enjoy illicit sex, then the whole society is spoiled. You make the innocent girls spoiled. And they have no other business than prostitution. That means you put the society into chaotic condition.
Conclusion
The whole society needs both structure and spiritual purpose, varṇāśrama gives a natural arrangement for duties, while Kṛṣṇa consciousness gives those duties their purifying center. Without real 'brāhmaṇas, moral discipline, and leadership guided by the Lord's instructions, society becomes chaotic and polluted. When each person serves according to quality and work for Kṛṣṇa's satisfaction, the social body becomes peaceful, protected, and fit for spiritual advancement.
