Understanding the Supreme Reality of God's Perfection
Śrīla Prabhupāda illuminates the boundless nature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead by describing His absolute perfection. Unlike conditioned souls who strive for temporary and flawed achievements, the Lord inherently possesses perfect energies, perfect mystic powers, and perfect knowledge, allowing Him to manage the cosmos effortlessly and enjoy flawless pastimes with His devotees.
The Absolute Completeness
The Supreme Lord lacks nothing; He is complete in Himself. Śrīla Prabhupāda emphasizes that God's perfection lies in His ability to be simultaneously the greatest of the great and the smallest of the small, fully satisfied within Himself without any material designations.
- The Supreme Absolute Truth is complete in His perfection when He is both infinite and infinitesimal. If He is simply infinite and is not infinitesimal, He is not perfect.
- Free from all material conceptions of existence and never wonder-struck by anything, the Lord is always jubilant and fully satisfied by His own spiritual perfection. He has no material designations, and therefore He is steady and unattached.
- He (the Supreme Personality of Godhead) maintains all opulences and perfections in full while keeping Himself apart from all the tribulations of this material world.
The Master of Mystic Power
Mundane yogīs undergo severe austerities to achieve a fraction of mystic power, but the Supreme Lord inherently possesses all of them. Śrīla Prabhupāda refers to Kṛṣṇa as Yogeśvara, the master of all mystic perfections, noting that His potencies act instantly and perfectly by His mere desire.
- God's potencies are so subtle and perfect, as soon as He desires, immediately thing is ready. This is called yoga system. Therefore Krsna is known as Yogesvara.
- Despite all the allurement of yoga practice, the eight kinds of yogic perfections are hardly achievable by the common man. But here it is described that the Lord, who appeared before the four sages, is Himself full of all eight of those perfections.
- He (God) is above all; no one is equal to or greater than Him. Nor can anyone reach His level of perfection in any of the above powers by any amount of penance or yogic demonstrations. The yogis are dependent on His mercy.
Flawless Energies and Management
The management of the unlimited material universes does not tax the Supreme Lord. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the Lord's diverse energies act so perfectly that the entire cosmic manifestation functions automatically (svābhāvikī jñāna-bala-kriyā).
- God's energies are multi-energies, varieties of energies, and the energies are so perfect that svabhaviki jnana-bala-kriya ca: everything is happening automatically. So that is actually life.
- His (God's) energies are working in so many ways, - "that it appears that He has got perfect knowledge and perfect workmanship." Everything is perfect. You see. Either a flower or anything, nature's product, it is perfectly done.
- One must know from the above description of creation and annihilation that the supreme consciousness, being omnipresent, can take care of everything with perfect attention. That is the fact of the omnipresence of the Supreme Lord.
Perfect Enactment of Pastimes
When the Supreme Personality of Godhead descends into the material world, He executes His chosen roles with absolute flawlessness. Śrīla Prabhupāda points out that whether acting as an innocent child, an obedient student, or a devoted friend, the Lord's perfect acting bewilders even His most elevated associates.
- The Lord is supremely perfect, and whenever He enacts His transcendental pastimes as a son, a rival or an object of enmity, He plays the part so perfectly that even pure devotees like Uddhava are bewildered.
- He (Krsna) is atmarama, self-satisfied; He can derive all pleasure by Himself, without anyone’s help. But when the Lord descends to play the part of a human being, He plays a role either as a husband, son, friend or enemy in full perfection.
- As a boy, He (Krsna) was playing the part of a cowboy. As the son of Nanda Maharaja, He discharged responsibility perfectly.
- As far as Krsna's memory is concerned, it is said that when He was studying in the school of Sandipani Muni in Avantipur, He showed such a sharp memory that by once taking instructions from the teacher He immediately became perfect in any subject.
Conclusion
Śrīla Prabhupāda vividly demonstrates that the perfection of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is unlimited and multidimensional. Unlike the conditioned souls, whose abilities are restricted by the material modes of nature, the Lord possesses complete mystic powers (yogeśvara) and flawlessly efficient energies that govern the entire cosmic manifestation automatically. Furthermore, when the Lord chooses to display His transcendental pastimes, He completely embodies His roles, drawing all living entities toward His unparalleled beauty, intelligence, and love. For a sincere Vaiṣṇava, recognizing and meditating upon the absolute perfection of God is the surest path to achieving spiritual fulfillment and deliverance from the cycle of birth and death.
