Receiving Knowledge from the Perfect Person

The Inadequacy of Mundane Speculation

- Scientists are searching for the ultimate cause of this material universe and are postulating different theories and proposals, but the real means for knowledge is very easy and perfect: we need only hear from the perfect person, Krsna.
- We cannot accept the theories or the statement of some defective person. We should hear from the person who is not defective - perfect. Therefore our process of hearing or getting knowledge is from the perfect person. That is called Krsna consciousness.
The Descending Process of Truth
Instead of relying on the ascending process of inductive logic, Śrīla Prabhupāda advocates for avaroha-panthā, or the descending process of knowledge. True wisdom flows downward from the Supreme Lord through authorized channels, ensuring that the message remains untainted by human error.
- Avaroha-pantha means a descendence, or deductive process. So our Krsna consciousness movement, we claim that we have got perfect knowledge of everything because we are taking knowledge from the perfect person.
- It is not necessary for one to be a highly polished literary man to receive knowledge; to receive perfect knowledge from a perfect person, one must be expert in hearing. This is called the descending process of deductive knowledge, or avaroha-pantha.
- I may be imperfect, but because I receive knowledge from a perfect person, my knowledge is perfect. This is called parampara system.
Kṛṣṇa as the Supreme Authority

- Our process of knowledge is very easy. Krsna's instruction, Bhagavad-gita, is the principal book of knowledge given by the adi-purusa Himself, the Supreme primeval person, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is indeed the perfect person.
The Role of the Bona Fide Spiritual Master
The spiritual master serves as the transparent medium through which the Lord's flawless instructions are delivered. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that a guru is considered perfect because he does not manufacture his own philosophy, but simply repeats the exact message of the Supreme Lord.
- Guru means who has heard from the perfect person. Therefore his knowledge is perfect, because he has heard. This is called parampara system or disciplic succession.
- He (spiritual master) is perfect because whatever he is speaking, that is the statement of the perfect person.
- An imperfect person is teaching about transcendental knowledge. Therefore people are being cheated. Our process is to take lesson from the perfect person and distribute it, just we are doing.
