Prabhupāda Urges His Disciples to Let This Life Be Dedicated to Kṛṣṇa
The Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is driven by an intense, compassionate urgency to save the conditioned souls. To keep his followers focused and inspired, Śrīla Prabhupāda continually urged them to boldly push forward, casting aside personal disagreements and material hesitation. By dedicating every ounce of their energy to the preaching mission, his disciples were trained to finish their material existence in this very lifetime and eternally return to the spiritual world.
Working Cooperatively for the Mission
To enact a peaceful revolution within human society, united effort is absolutely necessary. Śrīla Prabhupāda emphasized that the global spread of Kṛṣṇa consciousness could never be the work of one single individual. He called upon his followers to set aside their false egos, combine their unique talents, and work together with immense patience and enthusiasm to uplift suffering humanity.
- I went to your country with a mission and you all good souls were sent by Krishna to me. So let us cooperatively work together to vigorously spread Krishna Consciousness, to the suffering humanity at large.
- Let us do something which will bring a peaceful revolution to the whole human society. I am sure I have good assistants like you and if you all cooperate with me I am sure of success.
- Fortunately, we are now together and with great enthusiasm and patience let us erect this mission of Krishna Consciousness.
- Our mission is to give this benediction to all humanity. Let us cooperate together on this basis so that it will be a more effective United Nations. We shall be united on the basis of the prime need of human society, spiritual life.
Dedicating One Lifetime to Kṛṣṇa
The human form of life is an exceedingly rare opportunity to break free from the cycle of repeated birth and death. Rather than waiting for some future lifetime to become serious about spiritual practice, devotees are instructed to take full advantage of the present moment. By firmly resolving to utilize this single lifetime to satisfy the senses of the Supreme Lord, a sincere practitioner guarantees their return to the spiritual world.
- His motto should be: "Why shall I wait for next year? Let me pass in this year." Similarly, we should be very serious: "Why we shall wait for the next life? Let us finish this life and go back to Godhead, Krsna, and dance there."
- Let this life be dedicated for satisfying Krsna's senses. That is Krsna consciousness. One life. We have, several lives, we have tried to satisfy our personal senses. Let this life, at least one life, let me try, what happens.
- Those who are not in knowledge, they are afraid of death. Best business is, before the death comes let us finish our Krsna consciousness perfectly. That is wanted. Death will come. You cannot avoid it.
- Utsahad dhairyan niscayat. The first principle is one must be very enthusiastic. He must believe that Krsna has said that, na me bhaktah pranasyati, "My devotee will never be vanquished." So "Let me become Krsna's devotee sincerely."
Forgetting Past Difficulties
Whenever individuals work closely together in a large institution, minor disagreements and misunderstandings are bound to occur. However, a true spiritual soldier does not allow past interpersonal conflicts or organizational difficulties to derail their devotional service. Śrīla Prabhupāda advised his disciples to graciously forgive one another, forget previous grievances, and remain steadfast in their commitment to the higher mission.
- Let us forget our past difficulties and in Krishna Consciousness, if anyone faces difficulties, it is considered as blessings, because without tapasya, or voluntarily accepting some inconveniences, nobody can realize the Transcendence.
- I am not at all pleased at what they have done, but if they return let us forget what has happened and go forward.
- Don't be disappointed. Krsna will act through His movement and kill them, these demons. How it will be done, that you cannot know now, but it will be done. Let us remain true soldiers. That's all.
- Try to convince Gaurasundara and Siddha-svarupa to return to ISKCON and let us forget whatever has happened in the past.
- Let us not criticize others. Let us go on with our own work. Make your progress steady, you see.
Preaching Everywhere Without Limits
A pure devotee holds no geographic or material reservations when it comes to serving the Supreme Lord. Whether situated in comfortable circumstances or placed in a hellish environment, their only desire is to chant the holy names and distribute transcendental knowledge. This universal preaching spirit allows the movement to thrive in any part of the world, providing the ultimate solution for spiritual realization.
- Let us get this chance. Simple method. So we'll go. Let us go everywhere, hell or heaven. It doesn't matter. Let us have this chance and speak something about God. That's all.
- If simply this chance is given, anywhere, let us execute this Krsna consciousness movement by chanting Hare Krsna maha-mantra and speaking something from this Bhagavad-gita.
- Let us execute this Krsna consciousness movement by chanting Hare Krsna maha-mantra and speaking something from this Bhagavad-gita. We are getting practical result.
- Let us take this opportunity and convince them that this movement of Sankirtana is the only means for spiritual realization, very simple and universal.
Consolidating and Training the Devotees
Rapid expansion is exciting, but without proper education, a spiritual society quickly loses its purity and potency. Recognizing the danger of superficial growth, Śrīla Prabhupāda occasionally paused the opening of new centers to focus intensely on internal development. He instructed his leaders to thoroughly train the existing members in the deep philosophy of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, ensuring that they become solid, unshakable preachers.
- We may thin the milk till it becomes useless, or we may boil it until it becomes thick and sweet, so now we have got enough followers, let us train them up perfectly in the philosophy and activities of Krsna Consciousness way of life.
- Let us concentrate on training our devotees very thoroughly in the knowledge of Krishna Consciousness from our books, from tapes, by discussing always, and in so many ways instruct them in the right propositions.
- Advice of friends here has been accepted by me that opening of too many branches at the present stage will be too heavy for us. Let us consolidate there in two places which we have already opened.
- It is the duty of the GBC to maintain the devotees, keep them in the highest standard of Krishna Consciousness, and give them all good instruction, and let them go out and preach for making more devotees.
Defeating Opposing Elements
The material world is dominated by atheistic philosophies and materialistic science that constantly mislead the innocent public. Rather than passively accepting this degradation, devotees are commanded to boldly challenge and defeat these opposing elements. Armed with the flawless logic of the Bhagavad-gītā, the preachers of the movement enthusiastically dismantle false ideologies to establish the genuine principles of religion.
- Krishna appreciates such strong preachers as His dearmost servants, so let us work very enthusiastically to drive away rascal philosophy and establish the real religion of Bhagavad-gita As It Is.
- Let us go on, one court after another, one court after . . . if there is fight, we must be prepared to fight. If required, take Setterji. He'll help.
- The whole program is to create some fools and rascals, that's all. Any philosopher, any scientist comes, I can say that, "You are simply creating fools and rascals, because you are also fools and rascals." I can challenge. Then let us come to argument.
- Yes. Becoming more interested. So let us go on fighting with Krsna consciousness. There is no disappointment. Yudhyasva mam anusmara (BG 8.7). We shall fight and chant Hare Krsna. Then everything is all right. We cannot stop fighting.
- When we see that so many men and women are simply committing suicide as described in the Isopanisad ye ke catma-hano janah, let us try to save them through this Krsna Consciousness Movement.
Conclusion
By urging his followers to fully dedicate their present lives to Kṛṣṇa, Śrīla Prabhupāda established a society of incredibly determined and compassionate individuals. His repeated calls of "let us" served as a constant reminder that spiritual life is an active, cooperative endeavor. As long as his disciples remain true soldiers—training the innocent, defeating the atheists, and chanting the holy names everywhere—the mission of rescuing the conditioned souls will eternally move forward.
