Nature's Way - The Flawless Arrangement of the Supreme
Secular scientists often attribute the profound intricacies of the cosmos to the blind mechanics of material nature. However, Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that "nature's way" is simply another term for God's perfect arrangement, an infallible system designed both to maintain the universe and to guide the conditioned soul toward ultimate liberation.
The Supreme Arrangement
The perfection observed in the natural world is not an accident of physics. Śrīla Prabhupāda highlights that every systemic function of the material universe—from the hydrological cycle to the natural divisions of human society—is a direct manifestation of the Supreme Lord's complete and flawless knowledge.
- This is nature's way (crystal clear water trasferred from ocean to river), and nature's way means Krsna's way. So what is the use of constructing huge waterworks to supply water.
- The Lord is so powerful that He can do anything and everything merely by His sweet will alone. As mentioned above, everything is done by His energies in a natural way, with full knowledge and complete perfection.
- By nature's way or by God's arrangement, there are four classes of men. The most intelligent class of men is called the brahmanas. Intelligent means one who knows up to the Supreme Lord.
- Problems are created by men, led by the so-called politicians. According to nature's way or God's way, everything is complete.
The Cycle of Transmigration
The journey of the soul through different bodies is governed by strict, infallible laws. Śrīla Prabhupāda points out that according to the contamination of one's mind and activities, the subtle body carries the soul into a new physical form, perfectly executing the justice of nature's way.
- I cannot see what is the result, what you are dreaming. I am fool. I do not know. But the man who is dreaming, he is experiencing. Similarly, change of body means we are carried by the subtle body to another gross body. This is the process, nature's way.
- Seven months, at that time the body is grown up, and in this way in tenth month the body is fully grown, then by nature's way the body comes out and another life begins. This is called transmigration of the soul.
- If you contaminate some disease, then you must develop that disease. Similarly, if your mind is contaminated with some material designation, then you have to accept similar body, by nature's way.
- Nature's way. Karmana daiva-netrena (SB 3.31.1). "You have infected doggish mentality. Now you become a dog." This is nature's way.
The Rare Human Opportunity
Evolution through the lower species is an automatic process aimed at spiritual awakening. Śrīla Prabhupāda notes that after traversing countless lower forms, the living entity is granted the advanced consciousness of a human being specifically to understand God and escape material entanglement.
- After falling from the association of the Supreme Lord, the living entity thus transmigrates from one bodily form to another according to nature's course, until he finally attains the human form.
- The spirit soul has got the chance now to liberate himself. There is a process. By nature's way, the evolution is to give chance the spirit to get out of this material entanglement.
- Every human being is given the chance by nature's way. You are given this human form of body, civilized man with developed consciousness, to understand these problems of your life. The animals cannot understand.
- Mam aprapya. He cannot understand God. That is killing himself. This human form of life was given to him by nature's way, that "Now you understand God." But he's wasting time by surfing in the water. You see?
Contentment and Simplicity
Unlike animals, who peacefully abide by their given instincts, human beings often create chaos by artificially exploiting the earth. Śrīla Prabhupāda concludes that true civilization means being completely satisfied with whatever is provided by nature's way, saving all extra time and energy for spiritual advancement.
- The lower animals, the birds and the bees, have no business or profession, yet they are not dying for want of food. They are all living in nature's way, and they all have the necessities of life provided - namely eating, sleeping, mating and defending.
- In the living entities lower than the human being, they follow the nature's way, the allotted food. Just like the tiger eats blood and flesh. If you offer him nice fruit, nice sweetrice, he'll not eat.
- Don't think that we are after vegetarian, nonvegetarian. No. That is not our philosophy. Because either you take vegetable or you take meat, you are killing. And you have to kill, otherwise you cannot live. That is nature's way.
- There is an English proverb - "yielding to the new" But the Vedic civilization is "Do not try to invent some order. That will create disturbance. Be satisfied. Whatever you have got by nature's way, be satisfied. Don't spoil your time. Save time for Krsna Consciousness."
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Vedic teachings completely dispel the atheistic notion that the universe operates through blind chance or mechanical indifference. What the world refers to as "nature's way" is, in reality, the flawless, omniscient arrangement of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Kṛṣṇa. This divine system flawlessly maintains the cosmic manifestation and administers the strict laws of transmigration, providing every living entity with a physical body that perfectly matches their consciousness and desires. Most importantly, nature's way guides the conditioned soul upward through the evolutionary scale, eventually granting the rare and precious human form. This form is not meant for creating artificial political problems, inventing unnecessary economic complexes, or indulging in animalistic sense gratification. Rather, the intelligent human being should look to the peaceful reliance of the lower species, gracefully accepting whatever necessities are provided by God's natural arrangement. By remaining satisfied and unagitated by material pursuits, a sincere soul can dedicate all their energy toward the true purpose of human life: cultivating Kṛṣṇa consciousness and breaking free from the material entanglement once and for all.
