God Is God - Beyond Material Designations
Śrīla Prabhupāda teaches that the Absolute Truth is universal and cannot be confined to any sectarian religion. The simple statement that "God is God" emphasizes His eternal, supreme position, proving that He is never manufactured by material endeavors.
The Universal Supreme Being
According to Śrīla Prabhupāda, God is not a Hindu, Christian, or Muslim. Just like gold remains gold regardless of who handles it, the Supreme Lord is the universal father for all living entities, completely free from bodily or social designations.
- Bhagavan is for everyone. God is God. Just like gold is gold. If gold is handled by Hindu, it does not become Hindu gold. Or the gold is handled by Christian, it does not become Christian gold. Gold is gold. Similarly, dharma is one. Religion is one.
- God is neither Hindu nor Muslim nor Christian. God is God. God is one. But according to time and climate, condition, the method of approaching God may be different, but the ultimate end is how to love God or how to serve God.
- One who is in the knowledge, he knows that God is one. God cannot be Hindu. God cannot be Muslim. God cannot be Christian. God is God. He has no material qualification.
- We are preaching God consciousness. God is God. God is neither Christian, nor Hindu, nor Muslim. God is God. So everyone should be God conscious. That is our movement.
God Is Never Manufactured
Śrīla Prabhupāda strongly refutes the foolish idea that an ordinary living entity can become God through mystic power or meditation. God is God from the very beginning, and no amount of endeavor can elevate a minute soul to the supreme position.
- God is God from the very beginning. The idea that someone can become God by meditation is ridiculous. By hard endeavor one may realize his godly nature, but he will never become God.
- God is never manufactured. God is God. Not by mystic power one becomes God or by so-called meditation or magical arts. No. God is God. Nobody can become God. Asamaurdhva.
- If we read life of Krsna, we can see that He's Krsna, God, from the very beginning of His birth. God is not manufactured by some mystic power. God is God, and dog is dog. A dog cannot become God; God cannot become dog. That is difference.
- We have heard so many so-called Gods, that "He attained such perfection of mystic power. Now he has become God." That is also another maya. Nobody can become God. God is God; dog is dog. This is the law of identity.
The Universal Nature of His Name
Because God is absolute, His holy name is completely nondifferent from His form and personality. Śrīla Prabhupāda clarifies that chanting names like Kṛṣṇa is a universal process meant for all humanity, beyond Eastern or Western origins.
- In the Absolute world, the name water and the water is the same. This is called Absolute, no different separation. So in the kingdom of God, the God is God and His son is also God. There is no difference between the name and the substance.
- Hare Krsna is neither Western or Eastern. It is meant for human being. You see? This "Western," "Eastern," they are our own creation. God is neither Western or Eastern. God is God. So anyone who will chant God's name will benefit. That's all.
- Nobody says that, "This (Hare Krsna) is a word from India. Why shall I chant the Indian name?" No. It is God's name. God is neither Indian nor American nor otherwise, neither Christian nor Hindu nor Muslim. God is God.
- People try to understand, that this Krsna consciousness movement, is Hindu movement: "Krsna is one of the Hindu gods." But that is not the fact. Krsna is God. God is God. God cannot be Hindu God, cannot be Muslim God, cannot be Christian God.
The Eternal Position of the Lord and the Soul
The living entity is an infinitesimal part and parcel, while the Lord is the infinite supreme. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that recognizing this eternal distinction is the foundation of true religion and lasting spiritual happiness.
- God is God eternally, and an ordinary living entity is eternally a part and parcel of God. God is one without a second, and the ordinary living entities are many without number. All such living entities are maintained by God Himself.
- God is God, and the living entity is the living entity. God is supreme and infinite; we are infinitesimal. Our position is to serve God, and when we act according to our position, we become happy.
- Simply we are teaching that "Become God conscious." God is neither Hindu nor Muslim nor Christian. He's God. And we are also not Hindu or Muslim or Christian. This is our bodily designation. We are all pure, part and parcel of the Supreme.
- The perfection of such processes (jnana, yoga and bhakti) can lead one to the desired goal of life in spiritual value, but that does not mean that one can attain a perfection equal to the Lord's by such endeavors. The Lord is the Lord at every stage.
Conclusion
By understanding that God is God, one transcends the boundaries of temporary bodily designations and sectarianism. Śrīla Prabhupāda illuminates that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is eternally absolute, never manufactured, and perfectly distinct from the minute living entities who are meant to serve Him.
