God Is Always God - The Eternal Reality of the Supreme Controller
A common illusion in the material world is the belief that supreme power can be artificially acquired. Śrīla Prabhupāda exposes this dangerous misconception, explaining that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is never manufactured by human effort; He is eternally perfect, and His divine status remains absolute in every circumstance.
God is Not Manufactured by Mysticism
The idea that an ordinary human can elevate themselves to the position of the Absolute Truth is a product of spiritual ignorance. Śrīla Prabhupāda clarifies that the Māyāvādī philosophy—which claims one can become God through meditation or mystic yoga—is a foolish concoction, because true divinity is eternal and unmade.
- God is always God. The Mayavadi philosopher says that, "I am God, but I am, by maya, I am thinking I am not God. So by meditation I shall become God." But that means he is under the punishment of maya.
- God is not a petty thing, that He dies, or one is manufactured by meditation, he become God. This kind of God has no value. God is always God.
- Nobody can become God. God is never made. God does not become. God is always God, not that one is not God, and he becomes God by some mystic yogic power. This theory is going on amongst the Mayavadis, that by the mystic yoga practice, one can become God.
- The concoction of the impersonalists, that one can become God by meditation or by some artificial material activities, is herewith declared false. God is always God in any condition or status.
God from Childhood to Youth
Unlike ordinary living entities who must grow and learn to acquire abilities, Kṛṣṇa possesses full opulence at all times. Śrīla Prabhupāda emphasizes that the Lord requires no penance to realize His identity; He is as completely God while playing as an infant as He is in full-fledged youth.
- As far as Krsna is concerned, He is God always, either as a child on the lap of His mother, or as the coverer of the universe, Vamanadeva. He does not require to become God by undergoing severe penances, although some men think of becoming God that way.
- Krsna, when He was a boy of seven years old, He lifted the Govardhana Hill. That is God. Not that "Here is a man. By mystic power He has become God." No. That God is different God. Real God is always God.
- This is all nonsense (to claim that God meditates, and by His meditation He becomes God). God is God, and He was always God and will always be God. Even as an infant on the lap of His mother Krsna is God. No meditation was required, no austerity or penance.
- The materialistic theory that God-worship is anthropomorphic is not correct. No living being can become God by undergoing meditation or austerities. God is always God. Krsna as a baby is as complete as He is as a full-fledged youth.
In All Circumstances and Forms
The Supreme Lord's divinity does not fluctuate based on His location or activity. Śrīla Prabhupāda describes how Kṛṣṇa's supremacy is perfectly consistent, whether He is showing His universal form to Mother Yaśodā or directing Arjuna on the battlefield.
- A living being can attain godly qualities to a large extent, but he cannot become God, whereas Krsna, without undergoing any type of penance, is God always, either in the lap of His mother or growing up or at any stage of growth.
- From the very beginning up to the time of His (Krsna's) departure from this world, He is God. That is God. God is not manufactured. God is always God. Neither God falls down.
- While He (Krsna) was playing, He was God, and when He was fighting in the Battlefield of Kuruksetra, He is God. That is God. Not that sometimes not God, sometimes God. That is not God. God is always God, in any circumstance. That is God.
- Krsna's showing the universal form of the Supreme Personality of God, even when lying down on the lap of His mother, proves that God is always God, whether He is manifested as a child on the lap of His mother or as a charioteer on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra.
The Delusion of Men and Demons
Only those blinded by material conditioning fail to recognize the eternal distinction between God and the living entity. Śrīla Prabhupāda notes that while modern speculators imagine they can become God, and demons like Kaṁsa imagine they can kill God, the reality remains unchanged: man is man, and God is God.
- Although out of ignorance one might claim that mere mortals are God, that does not change the reality - that man is always man and God is always God, and never otherwise.
- The modern fashion is that they want to become God by meditation, by advancement of mystic power. But that kind of God is not Krsna. Krsna does not become God; He's God always. Others, they try to become God by mystic power.
- They (Demons) want to see there is no God. Or to kill God. Kamsa, always thinking, "As soon as Krsna will take His birth, I'll take the baby and kill." But God is always God.
- You cannot create God by imagination. That is not possible. God is God, always. You have to know simply what is God. He is never cyuta.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Śrīla Prabhupāda masterfully dispels the arrogant material illusion that the Absolute Truth can be artificially acquired or manufactured. The Māyāvādī philosophy, which suggests that a conditioned soul can become God through meditation or mystic yoga, is thoroughly exposed as a foolish concoction. God is eternally God, never subjected to material illusion, and never required to undergo penance to achieve His divine status. Unlike ordinary living entities who must grow to acquire strength and knowledge, Kṛṣṇa is perfectly and fully God from the moment of His appearance. He effortlessly displays His supreme opulence whether resting as an infant on Mother Yaśodā's lap, lifting Govardhana Hill as a young boy, or delivering the Bhagavad-gītā on the Battlefield of Kurukṣetra. The ignorant attempts of modern speculators to become God, or the demonic plans of tyrants like Kaṁsa to kill God, are entirely futile. A living entity can certainly develop godly qualities through unalloyed devotional service, but the constitutional difference remains eternal: man is always man, and God is always God. Therefore, true spiritual perfection lies not in the vain attempt to become the Supreme, but in lovingly surrendering to the eternal, infallible Personality of Godhead.
