Always Remain - Fixed in Kṛṣṇa Consciousness
The material world is characterized by constant fluctuation. Everything we see—our bodies, our relationships, our political systems—is subject to creation, maintenance, and inevitable destruction. However, the Vedic literature points us toward a reality that is permanent. Śrīla Prabhupāda teaches that by understanding our eternal identity and learning how to always remain fixed in our relationship with the Supreme Lord, we can transcend the turbulence of material existence and achieve absolute, lasting peace.
Fire of Spiritual Association
How does a conditioned soul become purified? Śrīla Prabhupāda explains this profound transformation using the perfect analogy of fire. Just as an ordinary iron rod becomes red-hot and acts like fire when it remains constantly in the flames, a living entity who always remains in the association of Kṛṣṇa gradually acquires godly qualities and becomes entirely spiritualized.
- You put one iron rod in the fire. It become warm, warmer, at last red hot. When it is red hot, it is no longer iron rod; it is fire, by association with the fire. Similarly, if you remain always, constantly, in association with God, then you become godly.
- If you remain always in Krsna consciousness fire, you are also as good as Krsna, ananda-cinmaya-rasa. And as soon as you go out of the boundary, or somehow or other you are covered, just like cloud, then you become black, or extinguished - no more fire.
- If we remain always with Krsna, then we acquire the qualities of Krsna. So God is all-good. Therefore I become good, by association with God.
- God is all-good. So if you remain always with God, then you become good. The same example: if you remain with fire, you become warm, the quality of the fire.
Remaining Submissive to the Guru
The key to unlocking Vedic knowledge is not massive intellectual capacity, but profound humility. Śrīla Prabhupāda strictly warns that a disciple must never become puffed up with their own perceived advancements. To receive the true mercy and strength needed to preach, one must always remain a submissive fool before their spiritual master. The moment a disciple thinks they know better than the guru, their spiritual life is ruined.
- One should remain always a fool before Guru Maharaja. That is progress. If he thinks, "I know more than my Guru Maharaja," then he's fallen. Then he is finished.
- This is real knowledge, to remain always insignificant before guru, Krsna. Then it is profit. If somebody thinks that "I have become more than my guru, more than Krsna," then he is finished.
- In spite of our superior qualities, we are always fool. You should know. Don't be puffed up with your superior qualities. You should remain always fool.
- Always remain submissive in spirit to Krishna and Spiritual Master, and by their grace you will get all strength to speak and satisfy your audience.
Keeping the Mind Busy for Kṛṣṇa
Māyā (illusion) is incredibly strong and is always looking for a vacant mind to occupy. Śrīla Prabhupāda's practical solution to this danger is continuous, active engagement. By ensuring that our minds and bodies are always busy executing some service for Kṛṣṇa—whether it is chanting, reading, or practical work—we leave absolutely no room for material contamination to enter.
- Every disciple should always remain busy in some work for Krishna. We shall not allow to remain vacant our mind, and if the mind is always filled up with Krishna Consciousness activities, there is no chance of Maya to sit on the mind.
- Always remain busy in Krsna Conscious activities and there will be no disturbance created by Maya. That is the standard of real peace.
- Study our literatures with the help of your senior God-brothers and sisters, go on Sankirtana when possible, take special care to remain always engaged in some Krsna conscious activity, chant Hare Krsna Mantra always and be happy.
- The world is full of danger and still we have to push on our Krsna Consciousness Movement. So always remain fixed up chanting the maha-mantra and following the regulative principles, because Maya is very strong.
The Imperfection of Mundane Science
Modern civilization heavily relies on inductive logic and empirical science to understand the universe. However, Śrīla Prabhupāda points out the fundamental flaw in this approach: because our senses are limited and imperfect, any knowledge derived solely from them will always remain doubtful. True, perfect knowledge must be received through the authorized, descending process of the Vedic paramparā.
- The process of induction, by which, reasoning from particular facts or individual cases, one can arrive at a general conclusion, is never a perfect process. Because we are limited and our experience is limited, it will always remain imperfect.
- If we inquire, "Wherefrom this chunk comes?" that they (modern scientists) cannot answer. Therefore the so-called scientific knowledge always remains in doubt.
- Our so-called scientific advancement always remains indefinitely imperfect, because it is not possible to understand the whole thing as it is.
- We may go on experimenting with our limited power of senses, but that will always remain doubtful. But if we accept Vedic knowledge, apaurusa knowledge, then it is perfect.
The Guarantee of Eternal Liberation
The ultimate promise of the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is eternal freedom from the cycle of birth and death. Śrīla Prabhupāda guarantees that if a sincere practitioner simply sticks to the principles, depends entirely on Kṛṣṇa, and always remains engaged in unalloyed devotional service, their return to the eternal spiritual planets is absolutely certain.
- Those who attain once to Me, they will have never to come again to this place of miseries. - So here is the hint that by Krsna consciousness, if we remain always in Krsna consciousness, then our transference to that planet of Krsnaloka is guaranteed.
- One who learns the faithful service of Lord Krsna through the Krsna consciousness movement will always remain in Vaikunthaloka and have nothing to do with the material world.
- By simply engaging in devotional service undeviatingly, one will always remain in the liberated condition.
- If you engage yourself in pure devotional service incessantly, without any stop, then you always remain transcendental, above these three gunas. So our Krsna consciousness movement is to keep the devotee above the three gunas.
Conclusion
Śrīla Prabhupāda makes the path of perfection incredibly clear. We do not need to invent new philosophies or perform severe physical austerities. We simply need to follow the orders of the spiritual master with a humble heart. By utilizing our time, energy, and intelligence to always remain connected to Kṛṣṇa through His holy names and service, we effortlessly conquer the material energy and secure our eternal, joyful existence.
