Exposing Atheistic Science - That Is Nonsense
In an age dominated by empirical science and speculative philosophy, the general public is easily misled by theories that deny the existence of the Supreme Lord and the eternal soul. Śrīla Prabhupāda uncompromisingly labels these materialistic concepts as nonsense. He explains that any idea that contradicts the absolute conclusions of the Vedic literatures—whether it be the theory of chemical evolution, manufactured religious processes, or the illusion that a human being can become God—is simply the product of poor intelligence and false prestige.
Refuting Atheistic Science
Modern scientists boldly claim that the universe was created by chance and that consciousness is a mere byproduct of chemical reactions. Śrīla Prabhupāda severely criticizes this atheistic viewpoint, establishing that dead matter cannot generate life. Instead, all material manifestations are carefully conducted by the supreme intelligence of Kṛṣṇa.
- The atheist scientists, they say that life comes out of matter. That is nonsense. No. Matter is one energy of Krsna, and spirit is another energy. The spirit is superior energy, and the matter is inferior energy.
- Without Krsna, matter cannot develop. Atheistic scientists say that life comes from matter, but that is nonsense.
- In the embryo, the living entity is present in an undeveloped stage. The modern scientific theory that life is a combination of chemicals is nonsense; scientists cannot manufacture living beings, even like those born from eggs.
- It is not that every different types of body and living entities have come by chance. This is nonsense. There is no question of chance. Everything is being carried or being conducted by the three modes of material nature.
Defeating Darwinian Evolution
The educational system heavily promotes Darwin's theory of evolution, teaching that human beings slowly evolved from monkeys. Śrīla Prabhupāda points out the fundamental flaw in this theory: it focuses entirely on the temporary physical body while ignoring the eternal spirit soul that is actually transmigrating through different species.
- But this nonsense theory, that there was a monkey first of all, Darwin's theory, and from monkey, human being has come, this is nonsense. So any other question?
- Who is accepting another body? The Darwin's theory is that the body is changing to another body. That is nonsense. That is not the fact. The soul is transmigrating from one body to another. That is knowledge. This is fact.
- In Padma Purana, the gradual process of evolution is there. This evolution theory put forwarded by Darwin, that is nonsense. Because the Darwin's theory is evolution of this body.
- If a person has written some theory, evolution of chemicals, and all rubbish things, it is very nice thing for the so-called dogs and camels, but those who have got eyes to see, one who has heard from Krsna, he'll understand this is nonsense.
Rejecting the Māyāvādī Illusion
The impersonalist philosophers claim that the Supreme Lord has no form, or that He falls under the spell of illusion and becomes an ordinary living entity. Śrīla Prabhupāda systematically dismantles this logic, declaring that God is never covered by ignorance. Anyone who claims they can meditate and become God is speaking absolute nonsense.
- This is a false theory that when God falls down He becomes a jiva, and when He is again revived in His original position, He becomes God. This is nonsense theory. It has no meaning. God never falls down.
- Acyuta means infallible. God cannot be entrapped by maya. The Mayavadi philosopher says that "I am God. Now I am under illusion of maya. I have forgotten myself, that I am God, and by meditation I shall become God." This is all nonsense.
- Similarly, this material energy is also energy of God, but it cannot cover God. That is the difference. God is never covered by ignorance. This is nonsense.
- If you are God, then you must be as joyful as God, as Krsna. If you are suffering still and you are claiming that you are God, that is nonsense.
Dismissing Manufactured Religion
Real religion cannot be created by a committee or altered to fit modern social trends. Śrīla Prabhupāda asserts that religion strictly means the laws given by God. Any attempt to interpret the Bhagavad-gītā according to personal whim or to invent a new spiritual process is dangerous nonsense.
- If somebody says that "I am introducing this religious process," that is nonsense. Nobody will be interested. But if God gives you law, just like the state gives you law, one has to accept. So religion means to accept the order of God. That is religion.
- You cannot say: "No. Why keep to the left . . . keep to the right? Let me keep to the left. I give this law." Your law will not be accepted. The state laws will be accepted. Similarly, nobody can manufacture a religious process. That is nonsense.
- Whatever Krsna says or He said 5,000 years ago, we are repeating the same thing. That is called parampara system. Not that "The world has changed. Scientific advancement is very great. Now we can interpret in this way and that way." This is all nonsense.
- It is not that we can manufacture some philosophy. That is nonsense. Philosophy is one; religion is one. Everyone has to follow.
The Fallacy of Material Security
Conditioned souls mistakenly believe that a nice house, a good government, and technological advancement can save them from the miseries of life. Śrīla Prabhupāda sharply rebukes this illusion, emphasizing that no amount of material security can prevent the ultimate reality of death.
- Because I have got very good means of living, very good means of sleeping, nice house, and very good wife and very good bank balance and good government, therefore I am secure. That is nonsense.
- If you say to the scientist: "What you have done for the human society to live eternally in perfect happiness?" What is their answer? That is nonsense. Therefore we kick on your face. Therefore we have got the right.
- Communist say that, "We shall give you bread. Why you waste your time with so-called religion?" The politician says that "You want to be happy, there is technology. Why you are going to pray to God? This is all nonsense." They are thinking that.
- Spiritual knowledge begins when one is perfectly aware that "After finishing this body, I am not finished." That is perfection. Not that those who are in this concept of life, that with the finishing of this body everything is finished. That is nonsense.
Conclusion
The modern world is deeply entangled in illusions, proudly presenting speculative theories and atheistic science as the ultimate truth. However, Śrīla Prabhupāda fearlessly cuts through this deception, exposing these false philosophies as dangerous nonsense. By refuting the Darwinian theory of evolution and the idea that life comes from dead chemicals, he establishes that the eternal soul and the supreme intelligence of Kṛṣṇa are the true forces behind all existence. Furthermore, he completely rejects the Māyāvādī illusion that the Supreme Lord can be covered by ignorance or that an ordinary man can become God. True peace and security can never be found by manufacturing new religious processes or relying on material technology. Ultimately, the only way to escape the nonsense of material existence is to abandon all concocted theories, accept the perfect, unadulterated laws given in the Vedic literatures, and surrender completely to the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
