God Instructed Arjuna to Fight

The Divine Friendship and Devotion
The eternal relationship between God and Arjuna is one of pure, transcendental friendship. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that for the pure devotees He is the constant companion, as in the case of His becoming one of the family members of the Yadu dynasty, or His becoming the friend of Arjuna. Devotees like Arjuna are constant companions of the Lord, and whenever the Lord incarnates, the associate devotees also incarnate in order to serve the Lord in different capacities. Because we are all followed by the tiger of nescience, the Lord is very merciful upon living entities, especially human beings, and to this end He spoke the Bhagavad-gītā, making His friend Arjuna His student. In course of time, the same instruction which was given to the sun-god, being wrongly handled and being broken, was again instructed to Arjuna because he was His perfect devotee and friend.
